Do you want to learn about the latest tech and tools for doing research? Do you want to build your research skills and network with research candidates and academics around the world?\u00a0 Then 23 Things International<\/a> is for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This unique global programme is specially tailored for researchers interested in learning new tools for research, building their professional profile, and networking. It is open to Doctoral and Master\u2019s research candidates, their supervisors, and academics from all disciplines<\/strong>, from all over the world (including AUT). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is it?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

23T is a self-directed online programme. Each week you’ll get two blog posts \u2013 called Things \u2013 covering a topic or piece of software that can enhance how you work. It\u2019s an easy way to find out the basics, with time to experiment a little and resources for taking things further when you want. Topics range from podcasting to understanding open access, crowdsourcing to publication strategy, career mapping to infographics. (You can get an idea by looking at the 2023 ‘Things’ here.<\/a>) There is also the opportunity to build your own website and blog, which is an increasingly popular way to present your work and create public interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge benefit is that when you join the programme, you will be placed in a \u2018Pod\u2019 with other researchers from partner universities and training providers around the world. The Pod creates an instant network of researchers with overlapping research interests and leads to fantastic collaborations and friendships. Some of the Things include small group tasks, helping you to explore topics further together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of all this, the website has a forum for discussion, and there are live events, too \u2013 e.g. cross-time-zone coffee socials and a 48-hour writing retreat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration and schedule<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Registration is now open <\/strong>here<\/strong><\/a> (just fill in the form), and is open until Friday 23rd February.<\/strong> The first \u2018Thing\u2019 will be released on 4th March, and you will also meet your pod that week. The course runs for 14 weeks (including two break weeks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The time commitment is very flexible. It\u2019s designed to take about an hour a week (on average) to read the blogs and complete the small tasks, but you can tailor your involvement to suit your own interests and availability. There is no obligation to complete all the tasks, and each pod will decide how and how often they would like to meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the programme you can claim a certificate and digital badge.<\/em><\/strong> You will also be invited to take part in a questionnaire and focus group, which supports further research into online learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
