Recent PhD graduate<a href=\"https:\/\/academics.aut.ac.nz\/balakrishnan.nair\"> Dr. Balakrishnan Nair <\/a>is now CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/prevents-md.com\/\">PreventS-MD<\/a>, a company implementing life-saving stroke risk assessment tools in clinical settings. PhD candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/?p=10249\">Tanuj Wadhi won<\/a> the 2023 Innovation Challenge with his athlete monitoring technology #EliteVu. And Dr. Sandra Grau-Bartual turned her PhD research on humidifying &#8216;smart fabrics&#8217; into a company called RespirAq, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbr.co.nz\/tech\/perseverance-pays-off-for-med-tech-startup-respiraq\/\">recently secured $3 million<\/a> in venture capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AUT Ventures has played a part in each of these success stories. They are responsible for turning AUT research and expertise into opportunities for &#8220;real world&#8221; change, and commercialisation is one of the key ways they create pathways to impact.
