Whether it\u2019s interview transcripts, survey results, lab measurements, or digital archives, managing that data well is crucial. AUT now has a new policy to help guide you through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aut.ac.nz\/rc\/autincludes\/getpolicy.php?id=532\">Research Data Management Policy<\/a><\/strong>, effective from <strong>1 August 2025<\/strong>, sets out clear expectations for how research data should be handled by AUT staff and students. It\u2019s all about ensuring your data is organised, stored, and shared responsibly\u2014not just for your own peace of mind, but to meet the standards expected by publishers, collaborators, funders, and governing bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good data management isn\u2019t just a box to tick. It boosts the visibility and impact of your research, helps you stay compliant with legal and ethical requirements, and supports data sovereignty where applicable. It also makes life easier in the long run\u2014think fewer admin headaches and smoother project workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Importantly, the policy aligns with AUT\u2019s commitment to <strong>Te Tiriti o Waitangi<\/strong> and reflects international best practice in research data management.
