{"id":2455,"date":"2013-07-22T14:37:24","date_gmt":"2013-07-22T01:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/?p=2455"},"modified":"2016-07-29T19:17:28","modified_gmt":"2016-07-29T06:17:28","slug":"5th-research-round-table-thursday-25th-july-from-2-4pm-wh415-level-4-wh-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/?p=2455","title":{"rendered":"5th Research Round Table &#8211;  Thursday 25th July from 2-4pm, WH415, Level 4, WH Building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><em><strong>Authors: Guillaume Tiberghien &amp; Dominik Huber, PhD Candidates in Tourism (AUT)<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Join the Research Roundtable and listen to Keri-Anne Wikitera and Guillaume Tiberghien.\u00a0\u00a0 They will present the current state of their PhD research.\u00a0Keri-Anne and Guillaume are currently PhD candidates in Tourism at AUT, and are both\u00a0in the writing stage of their thesis.<\/p>\n<p>Keri\u2019s thesis examines cultural identity and Maori cultural sustainability within the context of Maori as travellers, as navigators and those now living within new diasporic communities. Her thesis is underpinned by a Maori theoretical and methodological. Keri would aim at discussing the structure of her thesis and how qualitative data can be presented for analysis.\u00a0 Guillaume undertook a research about authenticity and tourism in Kazakhstan with a focus on the neo-nomadic culture. He used a grounded theory approach to analyse his data and \u00a0would aim at discussing\u00a0his results with\u00a0the\u00a0round table\u00a0in particular how to effectively discuss and compare the different themes that are emerging from his data in the construction of the discussion chapter.<a href=\"https:\/\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/?attachment_id=2461\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2461\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2461\" title=\"round table\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/round-table1.jpg?resize=288%2C175&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/round-table1.jpg?w=288&amp;ssl=1 288w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/round-table1.jpg?resize=150%2C91&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We invited Hamish Bremner, Associate director at NZTRI and Programme leader of the Postgraduate Tourism Programmes. Hamish is specialized in indigenous tourism and is also respectively primary and secondary supervisor for Keri-Anne and Guillaume.<\/p>\n<p>As always, please feel free to bring up any difficulties or issues you are currently facing in your own research project which we can discuss either immediately or as a next topic for following round tables.
