No prior knowledge of the software is assumed; however a basic understanding of qualitative analysis procedures would be helpful. It is also likely to be of most benefit to those researchers who have already begun – or are close to starting – data collection.

NVivo is the most widely used qualitative data analysis package internationally, and is certainly the most popular choice amongst New Zealand researchers. Previously, qualitative researchers have used highlighter pens, index cards, or even a pair of scissors to analyse their qualitative data. With the advent of packages such as NVivo, we are now able to achieve the same result electronically. Advantages in doing so include increased flexibility in handling data, easier retrieval of coded information, and analysis tools that allow you to ask questions of your coding. NVivo won’t analyse your data for you, but it will certainly make your life easier when dealing with qualitative data.

Course Content:

•             Overview of NVivo
•             The NVivo project interface
• Preparing, importing, and working with data
• Creating and working with nodes (coding)
•             Viewing coding and context
•             Linking

For more information and to register your interest, please contact the University Postgraduate Centre at postgraduate@aut.ac.nz

NVivo for Beginners – Research Postgraduate Students, (previously July 10) now rescheduled to Wednesday 26 February, 9.00am-4.30pm (Please note that ‘NVivo for Beginners’ must be attended prior to ‘NVivo Intermediate’, and […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

9

post-3233","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-category-4
["GET
