Regular Thesislink readers may remember that there are several peer groups<\/a> open to postgrad students at AUT. Well if you’re doing quantitative research, you’re in luck – there’s a new group starting on the Akoranga campus that’s all about quant methods. The first meeting is tomorrow, so check out the group’s blurb below and get in touch with Ema Tokolahi if you’d like to take part!<\/p>\n

Quantitative methodology discussion group<\/strong>
\nCalling all AUT postgrad students and staff interested in quantitative methodologies. While there seems to be a discussion group for every type of qualitative research out there we thought it was about time we had a space to talk about quantitative matters! Join our informal and friendly discussion group to find out\/learn about\/practice relevant theories and applications of various quantitative methodologies; practice presentations (e.g. PGR9, conferences); practice the application of various softwares (e.g. Access, RUM, SPSS); discuss and critique research proposals, designs, analysis plans and statistical techniques etc.\u00a0 Discussion groups are a mixture of planned presentations from people knowledgeable on a particular topic and participants bringing their own projects to discuss for advice, suggestions and (friendly) critique. We meet the first Wednesday of the month at 2pm in Mindspace (AC316) unless a session is booked in one of the computer labs to facilitate practice on the topic.
