These prizes are awarded to women who have demonstrated excellence as researchers, communicators and leaders within their scientific fields.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/FWIS.png?resize=288%2C249&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7872\" width=\"288\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/FWIS.png?w=575&amp;ssl=1 575w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/FWIS.png?resize=150%2C130&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/FWIS.png?resize=300%2C260&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, there is an opportunity for one NZ female PhD student in a scientific field (alongside four from Australia) to be mentored by &#8216;For Women in Science&#8217; Fellows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Female PhD students are invited to apply now to join the six-month mentoring programme.  In addition to receiving mentoring, the chosen mentees will be invited to attend the L\u2019Or\u00e9al-UNESCO For Women in Science ceremony in November, with travel expenses fully covered by L\u2019Or\u00e9al Australia &amp; New Zealand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The closing date for applications from mentees is Friday 10th April.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible as a mentee, applicants must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Be currently enrolled as a PhD student (either full-time or part-time) at an Australian or New Zealand university or research institute.<\/li><li>Have completed at least 1 year of their PhD (or received confirmation of candidature).<\/li><li>Work within scientific fields including life sciences (including medical sciences), physical sciences, computer science, engineering and mathematics.
