Fortunately there is still lots of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aut.ac.nz\/research\/postgraduate-student-support\/events\/writing-events\">AUT PG writing support<\/a> available, including writers&#8217; retreats, a student-led writing group, and plenty of workshops. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Writing from home can seem daunting and it can be hard to make good progress. Fortunately, AUT\u2019s Shut Up and Write! sessions are now available via Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The online drop-in sessions are scheduled on Mondays 9:30 \u2013 11:45am*: <a href=\"https:\/\/aut.zoom.us\/s\/492890150\">Access through Zoom<\/a> <br><em>*Sessions may change subject to demand<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The format for Shut Up and Write! sessions involves &#8216;pomodoros&#8217; (25 minute bursts of focused writing) interspersed with short breaks to keep you mentally primed for productivity. The format for our Monday morning sessions will be: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>9:30\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Welcome and intros <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>9:40\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1st pomodoro <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10:05\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Short break (5 mins)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10:10\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2nd pomodoro <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10:35 \u00a0\u00a0 Short break (5 mins)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10:40\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3rd pomodoro <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>11:05\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Short break (5 mins)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>11:10\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4th pomodoro (slightly longer)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>11:40\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Debrief and reflect on journey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>11:45\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Close <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a nominated host for the session, and they are the timekeeper for the 25 minute pomodoros. When a pomodoro is on, everyone is muted (with video on). The host comes back when time\u2019s up. Everyone can unmute and chat during the break time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have short intros from everyone at the beginning \u2013 name,\ndept, what they\u2019re working on. We also use the chat screen for other side\nconversations and any issues that people might be having with the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You do not need to attend the full duration of the session, but it is handy if you do so, as it gives us a chance to chat to one another and provide support as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See you there!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Editor&rsquo;s Note: This post from 2020 references a group that has since been disestablished.
