Well there&#8217;s more good news from our 3MT winners &#8211; AUT&#8217;s doctoral winner Megan Burfoot has now made the <a href=\"https:\/\/threeminutethesis.uq.edu.au\/asia-pac-3mt-final-showcase\">finals<\/a> for the entire Asia-Pacific region!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Megan&#8217;s 3MT presentation describes her work designing and testing a novel automated rotating louvre system to improve the acoustics in classroom environments. The 3MT Asia-Pacific judges have named her one of the 8 finalists, and one of only 2 from New Zealand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Burfoot-headshot-1.png?resize=300%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Burfoot-headshot-1.png?w=300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Burfoot-headshot-1.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Megan-Burfoot-headshot-1.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering that each of the over 50 entrants in the Asia-Pacific competition was the top performer from their home university. This honour confirms\u00a0Megan as one of the\u00a0best\u00a0doctoral research\u00a0communicators in the region. It&#8217;s also the <a href=\"https:\/\/thesislink.aut.ac.nz\/?p=7605\">second year running<\/a> that AUT&#8217;s 3MT doctoral winner has made the final round of the Asia-Pacific 3MT event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/uqz.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_on6yStdGQtqLYsKxDvhfMA\" target=\"_blank\">register here<\/a>\u00a0to take part in\u00a0the online finals event on 1 October. At that event, competitor&#8217;s presentations will be screened and audience members can submit questions about the competitors&#8217; research. Then, an overall winner will be announced.
