Fine Tuning your Ethics Application Draft<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The goal of this workshop is to work through the ethics application form and discuss issues and concerns related to it. Trouble-Shoot your Thesis Formatting<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Specifically designed for starting a chapter of the dissertation\/thesis and experiencing problems with formatting etc. Bring your work along and get hands-on assistance. Tools for editing your writing<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Introduces ProWritingAid as a tool for editing. Focuses on using statistics to examine draft writing. These statistics are related to choices about paragraph structure, condensing and elaborating meaning, and bringing in literature. Participants will have time to use the tool to edit their own work. Positioning your research area: How do other research writers do it?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Explores how writers use language to relate their new study to existing knowledge by participating in research as a conversation. Participants analyse journal articles and practise using language to show how their research fits in. Suited to students who are planning or in early stages of writing. Presentation Skills for your Research Proposal for your Confirmation of Candidature (PGR9)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n This workshop is designed for students who are preparing for their PGR9 presentation. It will cover the principles of presentation skills, with a particular focus on the unique requirements of the PGR9 presentation. Writing literature review sections<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Provides an overview of the structure of literature reviews within a thesis. Identifies typical functions and distinctive features of this section in relation to the whole research project. Participants analyse text examples and relate these to their own writing. Systematic reviews are not covered. Writing discussion sections<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Provides an overview of the structure of discussion sections within a thesis. Identifies typical functions and distinctive features of this section in relation to the whole research project. Participants analyse and discuss text examples and relate these to their own writing. Getting started with writing<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Focuses on strategies to help researchers get words on the page. Participants try freewriting and mapping concepts as steps towards gradually producing academic writing. Postgrad Students Wellness Toolkit<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bThis online session will allow you opportunities to socialise, meet new people, participate in lively discussions, and build your own \u2018wellness toolkit\u2019 to support your personal well-being. Using points of view in literature reviews to develop your argument<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Focuses on using points of view in literature reviews to develop your own argument. Discusses reasons for bringing in past research, and then applies this reasoning to your own writing sample. Practice language to organize points of view and to show the extent to which you agree or disagree. Presentation Skills for your Doctoral Oral Examination<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n This workshop is designed for students who are preparing for their oral examination. It will cover the principles of presentation skills, with a particular focus on the unique requirements of the oral exam presentation.
