As researchers we are often thinking about ways to avoid distractions but sometimes a bit of distraction can be welcome, and this is one of those times. With that in mind, I thought it would be nice to offer some research-themed light relief so I\u2019ve been searching the internet to see what I could come up with, and here are a couple of recommendations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pubs and Publications has a fun quiz: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogs.hss.ed.ac.uk\/pubs-and-publications\/2021\/07\/12\/summer-quiz-annoying-phd-candidate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">What kind of annoying PhD candidate are you?<\/a> (I was a \u2018c\u2019)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phdcomics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PhD Comics<\/a>: Different aspects of the research journey in cartoon format. It\u2019s been running for a long time so if you\u2019re new to it, I recommend starting with the <a href=\"http:\/\/phdcomics.com\/comics\/most_popular.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">200 most popular<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are looking for development opportunities while we are locked down, just a reminder that GRS and our friends at Libraries and Learning Success are still running student workshops, which have been moved online where possible.
