It’s one of those strange truths of academia that scholars are sometimes expected to pay in order to have their own work published. Journals can impose ‘processing charges’ or ‘editorial fees,’ and authors – under pressure to publish – often have little choice but to pay up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While AUT promotes open access research (and as a matter of policy<\/a>, our research is open by default), we still work with the big academic publishers to provide as many publication opportunities for our researchers as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our AUT Library<\/a>, as part of the Council of Australian University Libraries (CAUL), negotiates ‘Read and Publish’ agreements<\/a> with major publishers so that our researchers can publish open access in their journals. The most recent publishers signed up are Springer Nature<\/strong> and Wiley<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of these latest agreements, Springer Nature and Wiley have offered authors’ workshops in March and April. These cover aspects of the publishing process and open access models. Check them out and register below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
