It’s that time of year to hang up the lab coat, shelve the books, and hit the beach for a well-earned spot of rest & relaxation. To those who celebrate, we wish you a very Meri Kirihimete (Merry Christmas) me te Hape Nū Ia (and a happy New Year)! To those travelling, we wish you safe travels and quality time with friends & whanau.
AUT’s summer break runs from Saturday 16 December 2023 to Sunday 7 January 2024. During the summer closedown, most AUT buildings and services will be closed and most staff will be away. Some staff will take a longer break; so if you anticipate needing help or feedback from your supervisor/s over the holidays, we recommend having a chat now to check their availability.
If you want to keep up the momentum over the summer break (though please do have a rest too!), there are some options for on-campus work time.
The postgraduate study rooms on the City, South, and Akoranga campuses will be open over the closedown. The buildings will be accessible by swipe card access only. The study rooms will not be serviced over this period (tea, coffee and printer paper supplies will not be replenished) and you will need to please remove your own rubbish. Note that due to the campuses being closed there may not be any air-conditioning. Hours are:
- City WU415/416: 6am – 11pm daily
- South MA206: 24/7 access available
- Akoranga AL210: 6am – 11pm daily
The City, Akoranga, and South campus libraries will have limited opening hours in the first week of the summer break, but will then be closed until Monday 8 January. See the full details here.
