AUT Summer Closedown 2025-6

Happy summer break everyone! With the sun (mostly) shining we hope you have plans to get out and enjoy a restful holiday.

Well done to those of you who completed your postgraduate programmes in 2025! The summer graduations this week will be a fantastic celebration of the incredibly hard (but phenomenally valuable) work that you have to do to earn a postgraduate qualification. Our warmest congratulations to all those who will be crossing the stage.

For those continuing in your study, please be aware that the AUT summer operations period runs from Monday 22 December 2025 until Tuesday 6 January 2026. During this time, many of our buildings and services are closed or access reduced and most AUT staff are on annual leave.

Of course, PG research doesn’t always follow the traditional university calendar. If you do plan to do some academic work over the summer, there are still some facilities available. Our central Postgraduate Study Rooms will be accessible during this time, but only by swipe card. They will not be serviced; tea, coffee and printer paper supplies will not be replenished, and you will need to take any rubbish with you. Note that due to the campuses being closed there may not be any air-conditioning.

The university reopens on Wednesday 7 January 2026, when normal services will resume.

In the meantime: Meri Kirihimete (Merry Christmas) me te Hape Nū Ia (and a happy New Year)!
