The University Postgraduate Centre hosted the last doctoral get-together for the year on Friday 12 October in the Conference Centre, AUT City Campus.
Dr Enrico Tronchin, Business Operations Manager from AUT Enterprises Ltd (AUTEL) gave a presentation involving ideas on how to factor commercialisation into the world of academic research. “A sea change is upon us in academia, one that encourages closer ties with industry to produce economic benefits and jobs particularly for the society that surrounds and supports it. University commercialisation initiatives, also referred to as technology transfer, are integral to this.”
A good turnout of doctoral candidates and academic staff members from various disciplines provided an opportunity for engagement and discussion around Dr Tronchin’s presentation.
The next doctoral get-togethers will be scheduled in semester 1, 2013. Details of these dates will be emailed out to the doctoral network.
