We are currently looking for volunteers to act as session chairs at the AUT Postgraduate Research Symposium on Thursday 17 November.
As a session chair, you will introduce 3-4 speakers, keep time, facilitate Q&A sessions, and thank each speaker after their talk. This echoes the role of session chairs at academic conferences, and is a great way to get an insider view on how conferences work.
We’ll provide all the materials you need, as well as training in advance and support on the day. You’ll just need to give a few hours of your time.
If you’re taking part in the AUT Edge awards, your contribution (including training time) is fully creditable.
We’ll also endeavour to assign you to a session that matches your interests.
If you’re interested, please contact pgresearcherdevelopment@aut.ac.nz.
As an alumni of AUT and one who has in the past been actively involved in many aspects of University and Campus life, I would be honoured to chair a session at this significant Symposium.
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm John! We do ask that Chairs be current students; but as an alumnus you are very welcome to attend the Symposium and explore the research happening at AUT. More details about the event will be posted here as we get closer to the date.
