New peer networks available – which one should you join?

Last week we profiled a doctoral student group at South campus that’s getting people out of their offices and into good company. Well, great news! Now there are four more groups at AUT run by postgrads, for postgrads. Check out the groups below and contact the organisers if you would like to join.

If none of these appeal to you, why not create your own in 2016? Contact Anaise Irvine on anaise.irvine@aut.ac.nz to find out how to go about it.

SUSTAINED SILENT READING: Do you think fondly of those days of quiet reading time at primary school? Join the Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) network to work through your academic reading list with the same friendly, peaceful comradery you had reading Willy Wonka at school. Contact Emily O’Hara on eohara@aut.ac.nz to find out more.

NZAID SCHOLARS & ASEAN STUDENTS NETWORK: Are you receiving an NZAID scholarship and/or have you come to NZ from a South East Asian country? Join this Akoranga-based network to meet other students from similar backgrounds. Register by emailing the organiser Rudy Harahap on rharahap@aut.ac.nz.

POSTIE PEERS: Calling all postgraduate students researching in a “POST something” paradigm e.g. Post-structural?  Post-modern? Post-human? Post-positive? A student-only network group is emerging. Coffee & cake, friendly network, discussions, regular peer-group get-togethers. The first meeting will be held on Weds 18th November at 12pm in WU518. Register by emailing Kate O’Connor on kate.oconnor@aut.ac.nz. Call us before your mother does!
