Our 3 Minute Thesis contestants have honed their presentations and created their videos. At the pre-heats, judges narrowed down the field to our top 8 contestants. It was no easy feat, and there were a great many worthy competitors – so congratulations to all who put in the work to enter! However, the finalists have been chosen. And they are…

These finalists will compete to become AUT’s 3MT champions at the 2020 Virtual AUT 3MT Competition Finals on Friday 4 September 2020, 4:00 – 5:30pm.
All are welcome to attend the finals event, which will be held online this year via Zoom. Associate Professor Nigel Harris, Acting Dean of the Graduate Research School, will be our MC; and we’ll screen the video presentations from all our finalists. You’ll have a chance to vote for the People’s Choice prizes, and we will find out the judges’ decisions. You can register to attend the AUT 3MT Finals through LilRegie. Make sure that you have a device with you during the event so that you can cast your audience vote.
So who will be AUT’s 3MT champs?
Whoever they are, the talented masters and doctoral winners will go on to compete for AUT. The winner of the masters competition will compete against New Zealand’s best at the 2020 Virtual New Zealand Masters 3MT National Inter-University Challenge. And the winner of the doctoral competition will represent AUT at the Asia-Pacific finals, hosted by the University of Queensland.
So good luck to all our 3MT finalists, and a big round of applause to all who entered this year’s competition!
