It’s that time again… 3MT time!
One of the most exciting (and prestigious) competitions for research students is now underway for 2021. At the 3 Minute Thesis competition, your challenge is to present your Masters or doctoral research in just 3 minutes, with only 1 slide.
If you can do that well enough, you could become AUT’s 3MT champ and progress to national and international competitions (as well as winning great prizes).
Entries are now open, and you can find all the info and online entry forms on our Student Hub Online 3MT page.
If you’re quick, you can also book into our Presentation Skills for the 3MT Competition workshop on Monday at 1pm on the city campus. (If you can’t make that time, there’s another session on Thursday 10 June.) This workshop covers the judging criteria and lots of tips and tricks for writing your content, fine-tuning your delivery, and designing the perfect slide.
This year, like last year, entry is via video. That’s because 3MT is an international competition, and many competing nations are still in COVID lockdown and unable to gather for live presentations. But don’t worry, we’ll support you through the process of making and editing your video. It may require slightly more technical work than presenting live, but at least there’s no stage fright!
For more insights into the process of creating a video 3MT entry, check out our articles about the experiences of last year’s winners Marianne Carroll (Masters) and Megan Burfoot (Doctoral).
