Welcome to AUT! If you’re a new PG research student in FHES, CSOC, TAP, BEL, or DCT, you might like to get to know us in the GRS, meet your HoS and ADP, join AUTSA, and get started on your EA1 for AUTEC.
Or, you might spend your first month just getting to grips with all the acronyms! Universities love TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms) and the wider research context is full of ’em too.
If you are new to research and/or new to AUT, read on. This glossary is designed to help demystify the ‘insider’ language of academic research. Each entry is marked to identify whether it is AUT-specific, or whether it applies throughout NZ or internationally.
You can bookmark this page for those moments when you’re mystified by a seemingly random collection of letters. And if you find an acronym that’s not listed here, please let us know in the comments!
