Māori or Pasifika postgraduate students Reading Group blog

Author:  Ena Manuireva

This reading group is about the critical reading of the word/world around us. The reading of the word could mean, but is not exclusive to: academic articles; literature of various kinds, such as a novel chapter, or poetry; and any other forms of written word.  The reading of the world could mean, but is certainly not exclusive to: film; sculpture; art of any kind; political issues; images; photographs; websites; and practically anything that can be analysed by a group of smart and eager postgraduate students!

Students are encouraged to bring to the table ideas, theories, readings, and other materials, which they are either struggling with, excited about, or simply want to share with the group.

The reading group will run for one to one and a half hours, from 3-4/4.30pm each Saturday during the Māori and Pasifika Postgraduate Students Wānanga Series. Generally, the student(s) presenting will speak to the group for about 20 minutes, after which the group will discuss and analyse the material for the remaining time, but this is all up for negotiation.

The reading group coordinators are Byron Rangiwai (brangiwa@aut.ac.nz) and Nomana Anaru (nanaru@aut.ac.nz).   Feel free to contact Ena Manuireva (emanuire@aut.ac.nz) for more information.
