Enter the 2020 AUT Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

Enter now! Applications close Friday 26 June 2020 (master’s students) and Friday 17 July 2020 (doctoral students)

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). Competitors have three minutes to present their thesis and its significance in an inspiring and captivating way.

Read more information about the 3MT Competition on the UQ website.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s competition will be held online. Competitors will record a video of their presentation and submit it for judging. While this is a little different to how 3MT has run in the past, the basic concept is the same: present your research clearly, with one slide, in 3 minutes. Competitors will not need advanced video editing skills, and the quality of the video and the editing will not impact upon scores.

Information on the AUT 3MT, including rules, judging criteria and important dates, is available here on the Student Digital Workspace.

Applications for the 2020 3MT Competition are now open. Research master’s and doctoral students who have successfully passed the PGR9 are eligible to enter. The AUT winners will go on to compete at the national level (master’s) and international level (doctoral).

Entries for the doctoral 3MT competition close Friday 17 July 2020. Doctoral students’ entry form

Entries for the master’s 3MT competition close Friday 26 June 2020. Master’s research students’ entry form
