If your research might have commercial applications, you’ve probably got some questions about IP (intellectual property). The team at AUT Ventures has lots of experience turning research into business opportunities, and they are running some new workshops for postgrad researchers who may have entrepreneurial aspirations.
Venture Up: From Idea to Impact!
Tuesday 6 October, 1-2pm, City campus
Having the knowledge and skills to “make ideas happen” can be a career key advantage for AUT postgraduates. This introductory seminar provides an overview of translating promising ideas and technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace. The purpose of the Seminar is to give postgraduates insight into the processes underlying entrepreneurship for technology-based start-ups (and other commercialisation pathways). Register here.
Impact thru Intellectual Property
Monday 12 October, 1-2pm, City campus
In this workshop you’ll learn how to identify, protect and use that IP to maximise the real-world impact of your research. Afterwards, you’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned to your own and to your peers’ research, and know what to do to avoid some common problems as well as how IP works for AUT Students and Staff. Content includes discussion of different types of IP (patents, copyright, trademarks, design rights, database rights), and tips for protecting your IP as well as avoiding infringing on the IP of others. Register here.
I am interested then how do I register it?
Hi Rangga, there are registration links at the end of each workshop description. However, these ones have now passed. You can check on Elab (www.elab.aut.ac.nz) for more intellectual property workshops in the future.
