Are you undertaking postgraduate research?
Do you see yourself as a potential leader?
Are you keen to meet other postgrad research students?
AUT is currently seeking leaders for postgraduate peer mentoring groups. These groups will allow research students to connect, socialise, and get out of the office! AUT will provide staff ambassadors to assist and support the groups, as well as a small amount of funding to spend on group meetings or functions – but the details are up to you.
Peer groups could be formed around shared research fields or methodologies, shared characteristics (mature students, students with children) or could be open to all. Use your group gatherings to talk about work or keep them purely social. Group leaders will have the opportunity to form the groups they feel will be most useful, with support from the staff ambassadors.
So if you’d like to take on a leadership role and form a network, please get in touch! Email Anaise Irvine at the University Postgraduate Centre: airvine@aut.ac.nz. Potential group leaders will be invited to meet in October to think about and discuss the kinds of groups they would like to form.
