Call for Abstracts: AUT Postgraduate Research Symposium

The AUT Postgraduate Research Symposium is coming up on Thursday 17 November 2022.

The Symposium is a highlight of our AUT postgraduate calendar and an occasion for research students to meet, network, and present their research. We’re excited to hold the Symposium in-person this year (for the first time since 2019), though there will be an online component as well.

We are now inviting submissions from all those who would like to present at the Symposium. This is a great opportunity to disseminate your research, build your presentation skills, and gain experience for future academic conferences. You’re also welcome to invite friends, family, supervisors, and colleagues along to your presentation.

You can present your research in any of 3 ways:

  • Oral presentation (15 minutes online presentation plus Q&A time)
  • Creative exhibition (15 minute online performance or demonstration plus Q&A time)
  • Poster presentation (poster on display for the day of the Postgraduate Research Symposium plus Q&A time at the Symposium)

This year’s Symposium will be held on the city campus, and there is also an option to present online via Zoom or pre-recorded presentation (note that priority for online presentations will be given to offshore and distance students).

If you’d like to be a presenter, simply submit an abstract of up to 300 words via our online form. Abstract submissions close Friday 23 September 2022.

Your abstract will go through an academic review process mimicking the process of applying to an academic conference. We will support you through the application process, and if you are asked to revise & resubmit, we will give feedback to help you improve your abstract. If accepted, you will then have more time to prepare your presentation before the event on 17 November.

As well as having the chance to present their research, presenters can win great prizes – including Best Abstract and Best Poster Presentation.

If you have any questions about the Symposium, please email pgresearcherdevelopment@aut.ac.nz.
