Throwback Thursday: Anything but my thesis

Are you suffering from ABMTS – “anything but my thesis syndrome”? Does writing loom over your head like an ominous black cloud? You are not alone!

It does seem way too easy to fall into the trap of procrastination and putting off finally doing that writing. Writing a thesis is much like running a marathon. The seemingly insurmountable may be attained through a series of deadlines and small goals. Meeting each deadline and accomplishing each small goal will provide the necessary momentum to complete.

Make consistent progress each day and acknowledge that writing will require time, hard work, and patience; give yourself both time-out and incentives. Although it depends on the individual, taking scheduled time-out from writing can be a great incentive.
